Camphill Aberdeen City & Shire Nurturing Promise

Camphill School donation to tools initiative

Camphill School Aberdeen has raised £1029.00 for Tools for Self Reliance. This cash donation is on top of the work carried out at the school and at fellow Camphill Aberdeen City and Shire Charity, Milltown Community, to refurbish tools for Africa.

The money was raised at the school’s Christmas Craft Sale.

The Tools for Self Reliance scheme refurbishes tools which are sent to Africa.

Camphill School Aberdeen is one of over 50 workshops around the UK working in support of Tools for Self Reliance, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

Cash donations are vital to enable Tools for Self Reliance to ship the tools that are refurbished by our UK volunteers. This has become more of an issue, with the recession making raising funds for shipping to projects in Africa more difficult.

Camphill Aberdeen City and Shire represents the shared interests of seven Camphill charities in the Aberdeen area.

The Camphill pioneers likened their first community in Aberdeen to lighting a candle on the hill.

Now that candle spreads its light widely.

More than 700 people live and work in Camphill Aberdeen City and Shire communities, offering education, therapies, training, work and living opportunities for vulnerable children, young people, adults and the elderly.

Internationally the Camphill Movement extends to more than 100 centres in 23 countries.
