Camphill School Aberdeen Spring Fayre

Camphill School Aberdeen is opening its doors to the public on Sunday, March 22, for a Spring Fayre. The event is to take place between 2pm and 5pm in the Camphill Campus’ Main Hall, Milltimber.

A host of activities are to be enjoyed including face painting, donkey riding, easter egg painting, candle making, live music and a puppet show. Home baking and other refreshments will also be available throughout the afternoon.

Camphill Campus, located on a 25-acre wooded campus in Milltimber, is part of Camphill School Aberdeen. Providing home and education for more than 40 children and young people with complex special needs, Camphill Campus was the original centre of the worldwide Camphill Movement.

Commenting on the Spring Fayre, Laurence Alfred, co-ordinator at Camphill School Aberdeen said:

“We would like to welcome everyone to come and soak up the wonderful atmosphere of our annual Spring Fayre – something which is always a great success. It is also an opportunity for people to see the school, meet some of the teachers and learn about the work of Camphill and its communities.

“We welcome all children, parents, neighbours, friends and families to come along and enjoy a fun-filled activity day where you will find a warm welcome and admission is free.”

Camphill School Aberdeen is one of six Camphill communities in Aberdeen. It provides a comprehensive education programme for pupils aged three to 19, who have complex special needs. All pupils, whether day or residential, belong to a house community where life is shared with house co-ordinators, teachers, therapists and student co-workers.

Camphill School Aberdeen holds the national Autism Accreditation in recognition of the standards of provision for pupils with autism. The accreditation scheme is administered by the National Autistic Society with support from the Department of Health.

Camphill Aberdeen City and Shire represents the shared interests of seven Camphill charities in the Aberdeen area.

The Camphill pioneers likened their first community in Aberdeen to lighting a candle on the hill.

Now that candle spreads its light widely.

More than 700 people live and work in Camphill Aberdeen City and Shire communities, offering education, therapies, training, work and living opportunities for vulnerable children, young people, adults and the elderly.

Internationally the Camphill Movement extends to more than 100 centres in 23 countries.
